Leadership Education Program Admission

Before you can be considered for admission into the Leadership Education programs, you must first apply for admission to the School of Graduate Studies at WSU.  International students apply through the international admissions process.

Students are also encouraged to apply for financial aid, including scholarships and graduate assistantships. 

Application Deadlines 

Master’s and Education Specialist applications are due at least 3 weeks before classes begin. 

Incomplete Applications & Late Submissions

You will be contacted by the office manager if you submit an incomplete application. 

Any completed applications submitted after the deadline may be deferred and reviewed for conditional admissions.

If you do not complete the application by the deadline, you may seek Graduate Non-Degree Seeking Student status. 

This allows you to take courses in the Leadership Education Department before you apply and are formally accepted.

A maximum of 12 graduate credits earned as a Graduate Non-Degree Seeking Student may be accepted into a degree program upon recommendation of the academic department.

Admission as a graduate non-degree seeking student does not mean guaranteed admission to a graduate degree program. You must still meet all admission requirements and formally apply to WSU Graduate Studies and the Leadership Education program. 

Apply for a Graduate Program

Once admitted to Graduate Studies, you are required to provide a written statement for admission into a Master’s (MS) program and an Education Specialist (EdS) program.

Your written statement can be 2–5 pages using 12-point font. In your statement, describe:

• Your vision of the purpose and role of K-12 education (or substitute “K-12 education” for a public or non-profit organization you have worked for or want to work for)
• Your personal interest, capabilities, and experience in leadership
