Graphic Design Program
Graphic Design is a classic design program relying on both fine arts and liberal arts, combined with skills from various other fields of study to make you a skilled design professional.
Though the program is based in the Art & Design Department, you will also take courses in the Computer Science, Communication Studies, Marketing and Mass Communication departments. The Graphic Design program will provide you with a versatile education, opening doors to career opportunities.
Coursework & Opportunities
You will build on a foundation of design theory, studio arts and art history. You will also work with professional design software and technology. The program will go over traditional design applications, but heavily focus on modern design practices and up-and-coming visual communication media.
During your final semester, you will showcase diverse works of art in the Senior Design Exhibition. This exhibit will display what you learned during your undergraduate education.
You’ll also have the option to take part in one of the department’s faculty-led travel programs.
Students should declare Graphic Design as their major upon admission to WSU. If you’re not sure what your major is upon admission, that’s okay too! The graphic design program welcomes students at different points in their undergraduate degree.
