Special Education Programs

The WSU Special Education Department offers several academic programs at the undergraduate and graduate level.

Undergraduate Programs

If you want to be licensed in special education by the State of Minnesota, check out our undergraduate programs.

Students working towards 1 license can finish within 4 years, depending on their course load. If you decide to double major, it may take more than 4 years.

Once you’ve been admitted to the Teacher Education program, you’ll take Practicum A where you’ll work with K-12 students.

Master’s Degrees

Graduate Certificate & Licensure

With the Academic & Behavioral Strategist graduate certificate, you’ll learn foundational concepts and skills to effectively teach students in K–12 who have disabilities such as autism spectrum disorders, developmental disabilities, and emotional and behavioral disorders.

Current teachers may be able to take advantage of the alternative licensure option to earn an Academic & Behavioral Strategist License.

Applications for Summer 2024 are now closed.
