Counselor Education Programs

The Counselor Education Department offers 4 graduate programs with quality instructive, experiential, and applied learning opportunities. 

As a Counselor Education student, you’ll develop a personal theory and practice of counseling. And with a 100% job placement rate (2021-2022), Counselor Education will help you become an effective counselor, leader, and agent of change in different settings.

Accreditation

WSU’s Counselor Education, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and School Counseling programs have been accredited through March 31, 2025, by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). 

As part of their comprehensive assessment plan, the Counselor Education Department annually collects and analyzes program outcome data along with student and advisory board feedback. This information is compiled into Winona State University’s Counselor Education Annual Report (PDF) . 

WSU’s School Counseling program was also accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) from 2015 to 2022.

Graduates of the Counselor Education program will be recognized by most state licensing and registration boards in clinical mental health and school counseling specialties.
