Transfer to the Chemistry Program

If you plan ahead, transferring to WSU’s Chemistry program from a community or technical college will be a smooth process.

Keep these things in mind while planning for your transfer to a WSU chemistry program:

  • To earn a chemistry degree at WSU, you must take chemistry courses during every year of your undergraduate education
  • Finishing in 2 additional years is possible if you’ve completed the recommended chemistry courses before transferring
  • Ideally, a transfer student will have 2 years’ worth of chemistry classes completed before transferring (1 year of general chemistry and 1 year of organic chemistry). It is still possible to graduate in 2 years if only 1 year of chemistry has been completed, but the final 2 years may be more challenging.

Recommended Courses Prior to Transfer

Ideally you would compete the following WSU courses or their equivalents before transferring:

  • Principles of Chemistry I & II (CHEM 212 and 213)
  • Principles of Organic Chemistry I & II (CHEM 350 and 351)
  • Calculus I and II (MATH 212 and 213)
  • University Physics I and II (PHYS 221 and 222)
