Employee Tech Agreement
This agreement provides a technology package to university employees that includes the use of a laptop or other computing device, licensed software, and technical support.
Provision of Equipment
WSU agrees to provide employees with a laptop or other computing device as is deemed necessary for the employee to perform their duties at the university.
The employee understands that this equipment is the property of the university and must be returned when the employee ends their employment at WSU.
The employee must not sell, give away, or otherwise dispose of any equipment that WSU provided them.
Permitted Use of Equipment
The employee understands and agrees to use the laptop or other computing device and all technology services provided by the university in a manner that adheres to federal, state, and local laws as well as University and Minnesota State policy.
The university can terminate an employee’s use of equipment or technology services because of the employee’s failure to use these resources according to such laws or policies.
Laptop Alterations
Employees cannot make any alterations, additions, or improvements to the university equipment without WSU’s prior written consent.
Prohibited alterations include, but are not limited to, adding additional memory or Input/Output devices.
The employee must not remove or alter any State of Minnesota, WSU, or Service Provider’s identification labels that are attached to or displayed on the equipment or peripherals.
Lost, Stolen, or Damaged Laptops
The employee must take reasonable care to maintain the university equipment safely and securely. The employee’s department will be billed the cost of any repairs to WSU equipment and the cost of replacement.
If the equipment is lost or stolen, the employee must immediately notify Information Technology.
The employee must report the theft of any university equipment to the Police Department, get a copy of the police report, and submit the police report copy to IT.
Separation from Employment
All university equipment and peripherals must be returned to WSU when an employee separates from the University regardless of whether the separation is voluntary or involuntary.
An employee cannot keep equipment that was purchased with university funds. The employee must return all equipment by the employee’s last date of employment.
If an employee fails to return WSU equipment by the last date of employment, the employee will be billed for the replacement cost of the equipment.
The employee has read and understands the above, and by signing this agreement, intends to be bound thereby.
