Withdraw From WSU

Withdrawing from WSU means that you are no longer a student and cannot participate in any classes or campus services like housing and financial aid.

This is different from withdrawing from a class, as you are still enrolled in other classes during the semester.

Students withdraw from WSU for many reasons, but it’s a big decision that can be tough to think through when you’re in a stressful situation.

Talk to your academic advisor and a financial aid advisor to make sure that withdrawing completely is the right step for you. There may be options to get the support you need to continue studying at WSU.

Depending on the timing of when you withdraw, you may not get a refund for your semester tuition and may have to repay your financial aid award.

If you want to take time off from WSU (excluding summer term) and would like to return at a later date, you should complete the Academic Leave Form

Are You Leaving Right Now?

You will need to go into Student eServices and drop your classes. Check the academic calendar for the semester to see deadlines for full refund, last day to drop classes and other withdrawal dates.

You will also need to complete the Academic Leave Form.

Follow the move-out steps, including officially cancelling your housing agreement. You will also need to get formally checked out of your room by your RA.

If you work on campus, let your supervisor know that you are leaving your position. Your last paycheck will be direct deposited according to the usual payroll schedule.

Turn in your laptop to Tech Support within five business days. If you delay, you may be charged the replacement cost per the Student eWarrior Technology Agreement.

Contact Financial Aid at 507.457.5090 and let them know that you are no longer attending WSU.

They can answer any questions you have about how withdrawing will affect your financial aid.

If you have already accepted loans for the current semester, you will want to cancel those loans. You may also need to do online exit counseling to understand your responsibilities for repaying any student loans you have.

Check in Student eServices to see if you have any charges remaining on your student account.

You can make any payments needed in person at the Warrior Hub or online through Student eServices.

Are You Transferring or Leaving at Semester End?

Did you apply to a transfer school? You’ll want to use the semester break to get ready to begin at your new school.

Did you send a transcript? You may have to send a second transcript once grades are posted. Request a transcript through the Registrar’s Office.

Did you talk with an advisor at your transfer institution about what classes to take at your new school? Advisors can help you avoid re-taking classes or missing a pre-requisite. You can also use Transferology to get a sense of how your WSU credits might transfer.

You will also need to complete the Academic Leave Form.
