Know it is Not Your Fault
Victims commonly experience feeling shame or a sense of responsibility for the assault. This is simply not true.
You didn’t deserve it. You didn’t ask for it. It’s not your fault.
Find a Safe Place & a Trusted Person
You don’t need to go through this alone. Find a friend, family member or other safe place to stay.
If none of these are immediately available to you, advocates at WSU and the Advocacy Center of Winona are here to support you.
Start with Someone Confidential
Starting with someone confidential ensures that you are aware of all of your options before making any decisions.
Call the Advocacy Center of Winona at 507.452.4440 or the 24/7 hotline at 507.452.4453.
