Peer to Peer Support Program
If you don’t feel like meeting with a licensed professional, but you want to talk to someone other than a friend or family member, a peer counselor is a great option.
Trained and supervised by WSU Counseling staff, peer counselors can help with concerns such as:
- Adjusting to college
- Relationship, family, and roommate issues
- General stress
- Homesickness
- Making friends
All peer counselors are Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) certified and have additional training on how to best support students.
Our peer counselors are here to guide and support you.
Whether you need academic advice, tips for time management, or someone to talk to about the college experience, our peer counselors are ready to listen.
Join our vibrant community of students who are all on this journey together.
Either talk to a peer counselor or become a peer counselor!
Access a variety of resources curated for all facets of student life.
From study guides and time management tips to mental health resources, this program can equip you with the tools you need to succeed.
The Peer to Peer (P2P) Program was created because every student deserves a supportive community to navigate the challenges of university life. We’re working to build a campus-wide support network that empowers students to thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.
Interested in becoming a peer counselor? Email Kateri Johnson at kljohnson@winona.edu.
We welcome applications in the spring semester and begin trainings just before fall semester begins. We ask for a one-year commitment to the program.
