Psychology Programs

There are 2 options for Psychology majors.

Minor

Students interested in psychology but do not want to complete a full major may be interested in pursuing a psychology minor

You can declare a major or minor or change options at any time by visiting the Psychology Office in Phelps Hall 231. Talk to your faculty advisor about your options and possible minors.

Careers & Graduate School

Most people don’t just change jobs, but they change careers multiple times during their lives. That’s why we provide students with a wealth of skills and knowledge that they can apply to many different occupations. 

Psychology students gain skills that are relevant to many fields and industries such as: 

  • Critical thinking skills
  • Communication skills
  • Information gathering and synthesis skills
  • Research and statistical skills
  • Interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Ethics and values 

A minor or second major can also greatly enhance your career options.

WSU has a good track record of getting students into graduate programs. Roughly 50% of our graduates go on to some form of graduate school. 

Common areas of graduate study include:

  • Counseling or Clinical Psychology
  • Health Psychology
  • Industrial/Organizational Psychology
  • Human Resources Management
  • Neuroscience
  • Rehabilitation Counseling/Psychology
  • School Counseling or Educational/School Psychology
  • Social Work
