Accounting Student Resources
There are resources for students in the Accounting Department to help them make connections and prepare for their careers.
Are you thinking of double majoring or adding a minor that would complement your accounting major? Speak with your academic advisor about good combinations.
Scholarships
The Accounting Department and College of Business offer scholarships to accounting majors on a competitive basis through the WSU Foundation.
After you have completed the Accounting 212 class, consider applying for WSU Foundation scholarships for accounting majors.
You can also apply for nationwide accounting scholarships.
Students can join both campus and national organizations for accounting.
Accounting majors are encouraged to join the WSU Accounting Association, which offers:
- speakers
- trips
- learning activities
This student organization is an opportunity to develop important leadership abilities and apply other skills learned in the classroom.

Internships
Accounting internships provide real-world experience in the professional field while allowing students to earn credits towards their degree. Internships are highly recommended, as they can be a great introduction to the professional world.
Some internship experiences are completed during the regular school year (for 3 credits) while taking other classes on campus. Other internships are full-time and completed while away from campus for a summer, semester, or a year.
Students who are in good standing with a minimum GPA of 2.5 are eligible.

Internship opportunities are posted on the Accounting Bulletin Board and are emailed weekly to students signed up with WSU Career Services. MNCPA also lists Minnesota companies with internships.
Before you start an internship, you must complete an internship proposal (PDF) and internship application. Pick up an internship application from:
