As you prepare to head off to campus, here’s some things to consider about how you will get healthcare while you’re studying at WSU.
Before you arrive on campus, you are required to vaccinated against MMR & Tetanus.
Submit your immunization record.
We strongly encourage everyone to be up to date on COVID-19 vaccines before coming to college. You can receive COVID-19 vaccines at Health Services.
Certain academic programs may have further immunization requirements, so check with the academic department.
It is best to come to college fully immunized, and you can schedule an appointment to get any vaccines you might be missing.
If you are unsure of your immunizations, check with your health care provider.
Bring your immunization records with you to college if you are from out of state.
If you take prescription medication, bring a supply of medication or otherwise arrange for your prescription renewals.
You may be able to transfer prescriptions from your home pharmacy to a local pharmacy.
Be sure to keep all medications in original containers.
Students need to have their own medical insurance.
Check with your insurance provider to see if we are in-network or if we can become in-network. That way you can keep the costs of medical care low while in college.
Call the customer service number on the back of your card to see what’s possible.
Make sure to bring your health insurance card or a photocopy of the front and back with you to college.
If you have an on-going health history:
- Once on campus, you can sign a release of information to share your medical records from your home healthcare provider with Health Services
- Schedule an introductory visit with a WSU provider early in your first term
Call 911 for life-threatening emergencies such as:
- Difficulty breathing
